Sunridge Energy Receives Drilling License for North Central Oil Prospect

Canadian exploration company Sunridge Energy has received drilling license for the North Central oil prospect. The company is likely to begin drilling by next week in collaboration with Trinidad Drilling. A core analysis will be conducted in the zone after which it is likely to be made ready for production by the second quarter of this year.

A 3-D seismic program will also be conducted along with the core analysis to determine the potential of horizontal drilling for further exploration. Horizontal drilling will increase the daily recovery rate and reduce surface operation impact substantially.

The property comprises a total of 640 ac of Crown sections along with five freehold leases amounting to a total area of 2,320 ac which are fully owned by the company. Based on the result of these operations, the company will decide on drilling additional wells at short radius horizontally located near the Upper Mannville Sandstone. Each well is likely to have a depth of 1,400 m. Previous owning companies have drilled three vertical wells, but however have neglected a three to four mile stretch of oil trend. The laboratory oil analysis from this well indicates a gravity of 18.3 degrees API and exhibits a desirable cold flow production viscosity profile. The horizontal drilling is expected to maximise daily production and minimize surface footprint.
