Cartier Resources has reported the results of the 2011 drilling program conducted at the Dollier project in Chibougamau.
A continuous gold-bearing zone was outlined during the drill program. This zone shows an increase in thickness and grade at depth and stays exposed along a steep westerly plunge.
The company performed a drill program for up to 150 m depth and has validated the existence of more gold. Every drill hole intersected the main gold zone showing its continuity. A high-grade gold envelope emerged due to the metal factor.
Cartier has intersected 13.3 g/t gold over 1.2 m and 0.5 g/t gold over 47.8 m in hole D0-11-26, 11.9 g/t gold over 1.0 m and 0.4 g/t gold over 34.2 m in hole D0-11-03, 4.3 g/t gold over 1.5 m and 0.3 g/t gold over 30.3 m in hole D0-11-08, 4.0 g/t gold over 1.5 m and 0.5 g/t gold over 17.0 m in hole D0-11-25, 5.1 g/t gold over 0.9 m and 0.1 g/t gold over 54.0 m in hole D0-11-28.
Philippe Cloutier, Cartier’s CEO and President, explained that a low-grade halo normally encloses economical gold zones, in which there is a possibility of gold enrichment being present. The company believes that this type of halo has been discovered through surface channel results obtained from the Dollier shear zone. The phase I drill program conducted to 50 m of depth showed a primary area of interest. The second drill program results have suggested that Cartier is moving closely towards a system with the potential of yielding high grades over wider intervals.
The exploration team has planned for a further drill program along with a recent induced polarization (IP) geophysical survey in order to assess the gold zone extension.
