Guyana Frontier Mining has provided the details of the 3,000 m of ongoing diamond drilling at the Marudi Mountain gold project in south Guyana, South America.
The company has drilled two holes at the Mazoa Hill target, where an extensive mineralized gold zone was discovered through drilling by former explorers. It will report the drill hole results of the Mazoa Hill, once the assays are obtained and analyzed. The MH12-130 hole was lost at 68.3 m in the initial Mazoa Hill collar site, as there were abnormal ground circumstances.
The MH12-131 hole was located 25 m towards the east and drilled towards the southern part at -50° to 270 m of depth. The company cored the target metachert-quartzite horizon continuously from 31.55 to 234.16 m, 126.42 to 127.66 m, and 203.93 to 204.63 m. It cut mafic and ultramafic metavolcanics between 234.16 and 270.00 m.
The hole MH12-132 was located 30 m towards the western part of the hole MH12-130. It was drilled towards the southern part at -50°, and to 201 m depth. Metachert-Quartzite was continuously cored from 13.69 to 161.58 m. Metasediments and mafic metavolcanics were cut between 161.58 and 201.00 m.
Currently, the drill rig is working at the hole MR12-133 located at the Marudi North target, where high-potential drilling targets were discovered by the company from 3,400.4 m of trenching program conducted in the fall and summer of 2011. This drill program may continue till April 2012.
