Azimut Exploration has announced the positive gold results of the 2011 prospecting program conducted at the Nantais property, which is located in Nunavik, North Quebec.
The project lies approximately 80 km towards the southern part of Xstrata's Raglan nickel mine and 115 km towards the southwestern part of the Kangiqsujuaq’s Inuit village. The company has planned a follow-up program for this summer in order to test the potential of the property.
The company identified two fresh gold prospects, including 26.1 g/t gold at a shallow boulder and 16.7 g/t gold from an outcrop, at the property during the 2011 prospecting program. It gathered 24 grab samples mainly from outcrops.
Azimut encountered 0.262 g/t gold, 5.77 g/t silver, 1.35% zinc from sample L253151, 0.168 g/t gold, 14.4 g/t silver, 0.11% copper and 0.62% zinc from sample L252152, 10.2 g/t silver, 0.20% copper and 1.78% zinc from sample L253155, 16.7 g/t gold, 19.5 g/t silver, 0.32% copper from sample L253160, 26.1 g/t gold, 6.28 g/t silver, 0.20% copper and 0.13% zinc from sample L253161.
The Nantais property has 211 nearby claims, which enclose 88 sq. km of area. The company found mineralization along a potential trend that is 2.5 km long. The prospects are present inside a mafic volcanic rock unit trending towards the north. Quebec-based ALS Chemex assayed the rock samples.
