Strike Graphite has reported the commencement of mobilizing field crews in order to start an exploration drilling at the Simon Lake Graphite property in Northeast Saskatchewan.
The drill program may commence on or around April 24, 2012 and the company may require 35 to 40 days for the drilling completion. The exploration program will examine historic showings and the areas discovered during the recent VTEM program. the company will drill around 2,500 to 3,500 m in 10 holes along the conductive trend that is 25 km long.
The focus of the company’s primary drill program will be on examining the popular graphite mineralization present along the Simon Lake conductive trend that is 5.5 km long. The newly discovered 25 km long conductor will be analyzed by up to seven further holes. The company has analyzed and combined the high-resolution aerial TDEM survey results together with the previous graphite drill hole intersections and early structural data.
The company will process all significant graphite intersections that were recovered from drill-core material for preliminary metallurgical testing and mineralogical characterization. The work campaign has represented the company’s 2012 phase II program, wherein a fall and summer exploration of additional drilling and ground surveys. This exploration program will expand the high-priority target areas.
The project includes several mineralized flake graphite showings in previous drill holes, which were identified during the base metal exploration during the early 70's. Graphitic biotite gneiss was found in the previous hole 2-72.
A huge and highly conductive structure in the property’s southwestern portion has been analyzed as a fold hinge. The conductive unit surpasses 5 km along strike at this site and its width is more than 2 km.
