During the 2012 exploration field season, Kobex Minerals has planned to perform a drilling and soil geochemical sampling campaign on its Mel Zinc-Lead-Barite property in Yukon Territory.
The Mel exploration campaign includes 1245 m of diamond drilling on the Mel East, Jeri and Main Mel zones.
The aim of the drill campaign is to analyze the geophysical targets that are situated beneath the prior identified zinc-lead mineralization at the Mel East and Jeri zones. Additionally, on the Main Mel zone, the down dip continuity to mineralization will also be tested. Indicated mineral resource of 6.78 M t of 54.69% barite, 2.03% lead and 7.1% zinc was previously reported on the Main Mel zone.
Besides the drill campaign, the company will perform a soil geochemical survey to study four known zinc-lead geochemical anomalies that are situated in potential geology on strike towards north of the Jeri North zone.
Kobex Minerals’ President, A.L. Hills commented that the company has completed the assessment, data and re-analysis of drill hole information on the Mel property. In view of favorable location in the Yukon, the emerging popularity of zinc, exploration potential, and present indicated mineral resource of the Mel property, the company has decided to assess this property through the reconnaissance campaign.
Hills further added that at present, the company has about 37 million dollars and it is looking for acquisition opportunities so as to purchase projects that meet its standards of competitive costs, established resources, and significant exploration.
The Mel property includes 257 claims and lies 80 km north-northeast of Watson Lake in Yukon Territory and about 50 km from the Alaska Highway.
