EurOmax Resources has begun the 2012 diamond drilling program at Ilovitza copper-gold porphyry project in Macedonia and the KMC copper-gold project in Serbia.
An 8,000 m of diamond drilling carried out at KMC during 2012 will examine several fresh targets that were outlined by induced polarization (IP), magnetic and resistivity data gathered during late 2011.
The company drilled the initial drill hole, EOKSC-1246, to 541 m depth. This hole was specifically designed to examine a popular magnetic anomaly that is sited approximately 2 km towards the northern part of the Copper Canyon skarn system.
Wide epidote-pyroxene skarn was cut through the hole EOKSC-1246 at around 380 m after crossing a main structural zone. This skarn was available along with different amounts of sulphides, in particular pyrite with less chalcopyrite. The company may obtain assay results for this hole in six to eight weeks.
A second hole, EOKSC-1247, is drilled vertically and has a planned to 500 m depth. Adjacent historical drill holes cut wide mineralization of lead, silver and zinc present in volcanic rocks and mineralized copper-gold in underlying skarns.
The company will carry out a comprehensive gravity survey at the end of May in order to harmonize its wide geophysical database, including IP resistivity and ground magnetics. This gravity data may outline mineralized regions that are underlain by intrusive rocks.
