Redstar Gold has announced that the company has commenced 2012 drilling program at the Newman-Todd property in Ontario and the exploration camp at the property become operational. Drilling of minimum 5,000 m may follow up the results that were encountered from the 2012 drilling.
The company drilled 24,707 m, totaling 56 holes, at the Newman Todd Structure (NTS) that is along 1.8 km strike. Mineralized gold were returned from all these holes and more than 40% of holes encountered gold, grading over 20 g/t.
The previous 2011 drilling program encountered 60.60 g/t gold over 1.0 m in hole NT-103, 21.60 g/t gold over 1.5 m in hole NT-104, 1.34 g/t gold over 46.0 m in hole NT-105, 3.83 g/t gold over 11.0 m in hole NT-105W1, 145.0 g/t gold over 0.50 m in hole NT-108 and 114.0 g/t gold over 0.50 m in hole NT-109.
Primarily, the 2012 drilling will target the NTS’ central portion, called “Hinge Zone”. NTS is a large-scale structure containing gold together with iron-carbonate alteration, magnetite and sulphide replacement zones, silicification in considerable thickness. This alteration style is considered to be one of the key geological criteria related with the gold deposit formations, at the main prolific mines located in the Red Lake camp, and other significant gold districts. The company has discovered numerous high-grade gold mineralization zones along distinct structural corridors.
This drilling phase will examine many main structural and geological concepts found in the company’s new three dimensional modeling. The drill program will additionally target discrete high-grade structures, which stays exposed at depth, and along strike.
