PetroFrontier has reported that Ensign's Rig 918 is now being mobilized to the MacIntyre-2 well site, situated in EP 127’s northeast corner in Southern Georgina Basin of Northern Territory. Ensign drill equipment is expected to be onsite by early June 2012. The company may resume operational activities at the Southern Georgina Basin during June, 2012.
The company will focus on drilling the horizontal leg at the MacIntyre-2, during phase I capital program. Around two weeks are required for this drill program. The company will earn 75% of operatorship and working interest in EP 127 after the completion of drill program.
Once the company completes drilling at MacIntyre-2H, the Ensign drill rig will be re-located about 300 km towards the EP 104’s east boundary in order to drill a high-angle pilot hole at Owen-3 in EP 104 and a subsequent horizontal segment at the similar site during favorable conditions. The company is expecting to mobilize the Ensign Rig 918 to the Owen -3 well location in a week and may take four weeks to drill the horizontal and vertical segments at Owen-3H.
PetroFrontier will begin the phase II capital program for 2012 with the mobilization of service drill rig and a coil tubing unit for the completion, flow testing and fracturing of Baldwin-2Hst1, Owen-3H and MacIntyre-2H. The company encountered positive hydrocarbon responses from the MacIntyre-2 and Baldwin-2Hst1 wells. Advanced horizontal drilling is needed for this kind of unconventional oil play. PetroFrontier may establish commercial production with the help of proven North American technologies.
