Fairmont Resources Reports 2012 Spring Drilling Results from Marmion South Property

Fairmont Resources has released drilling results from the spring 2012 program conducted at the Marmion South property, Ontario, and nearby Hammond Reef property. A total of 10 holes, totaling 1,400 m, were drilled by the company.

The company encountered 3.27 g/t gold over 3.00 m and 2.00 g/t gold over 8.00 m in hole FA-MAR-12-004; 3.10 g/t gold over 1.90 m and 1.37 g/t gold over 10.80 m in hole FA-MAR-12-002; and 3.02 g/t gold over 2.00 m in hole FA-MAR-12-006.

Fairmont’s drill program targeted the previous Olcott gold occurrence, which is situated at the property’s south part, and up to 5.41 g/t gold over 6.16 m and 1.85 g/t gold over 19.20 m were encountered during the previous program carried out during the 1980s and 1990s. The Olcott occurrence, hosted in greenstone, is situated at the intersection of a structure, trending towards east-west, that is analogous to the regional Quetico fault and a structure trending towards northeast, comparable to the one hosting the Hammond Reef deposit. During the 1980s and 1990s, previous limited drilling and trenching campaigns focused on this occurrence, which is a classic gold system that hosts quartz vein or shear. The Sapawe Lake greenstone belt hosts this Olcott occurrence.

The company is looking forward to carry out a soil sampling, mapping and summer prospecting program to ground truth a number of significant northeast anomalies and trends in the Marmion batholith, at the property’s northern and central portions discovered during the 2011 aerial geophysical survey. Marmion shear, trending towards northeast, controls the Hammond Reef deposit. Occurrence of historic gold in the Marmion batholith is related to the same structures trending towards northeast direction.
