Trimble’s GEOTrac Acquisition to Expand Transportation for North American Oil and Gas Industry

Trimble has reported that the company has purchased Calgary-based GEOTrac Systems. GEOTrac’s addition to the company will expand transportation solutions of PeopleNet in order to cater to the oil and gas industry in North America.

Web-based software called GIS mapping, specifically for use in oil and gas industry, has been offered by GEOTrac. Custom solutions are given by GEOTrac for fleet management solutions and lone workers. GEOTrac also works with North America-based service firms and several top energy producers.

GEOTrac’s mapping was commenced at the private oil and gas lease roads located all over the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB). Since new roads were constructed by huge oil and gas producing companies, GEOTrac continued detailing of the roads forming a highly comprehensive oil and gas lease-road network in Canada. Being the largest fleet management provider for the Canadian oil and gas industry, GEOTrac feeds in real-time GPS coordinates from large number of vehicles everyday. A customer can recover the new map details from the field’s present activity, when logged into the web-based application of GEOTrac.

Ron Konezny, Trimble’s General Manager for Transportation and Logistics (T&L) Division stated that this purchase has expanded the focus of PeopleNet on service and innovation, and results in best-of-breed solutions to the oil and gas or transport industry in North America.

The customers of GEOTrac will experience exceptional service levels continuously from after-sale support, customer service representatives and field service technicians. GEOTrac may surpass the customers’ expectations in future, with the help of improved expertise obtained from the combined firms.
