Reunion Gold has updated its exploration program carried out at the Matthews Ridge manganese project located in South America. The company has conducted diamond drilling for 43,444 m, totaling 669 holes, and reverse circulation (RC) drilling of 17,361 m, totaling 283 near-surface holes. Four diamond drilling rigs are operating at the project.
The company has obtained complete drilling results from 556 holes, wherein the results for 243 holes were announced previously. It has reported the results of 215 RC drill holes and 98 diamond drill holes. Reunion intersected manganese mineralization in 88% of the holes, in which most of the intersections commence from trenches’ surface outcrops.
Reunion may complete the drill program on all target areas located between Hills 1 and 9 at the end of this month. It may close the spacing of the drill hole between Hill 5 to 9 to almost 50 x 25 m centers and will provide adequate data on the mineralized bodies in order to complete resource calculation and geological modeling during Q2 of 2012.
The current drilling results continue to show an exceptional correlation together with trenching intersections, validating that the mantle mineralization continues in the saprolite zone.
The company has specifically designed the drill and trenching campaigns to assess the formerly explored regions and to better outline the characteristics and levels of prominent mineralized zones. The drill program has targeted to indicate the manganiferrous bodies continuation at depth, with the receipt of trenches allowing surface sampling and good structural data. The company carries out drilling at the saprolite fresh rock interface and has intended to outline mineable resources in the residual and saprolitic materials.
