Confederation Minerals, a British Columbia-based company, has declared the drill results from the 2012 summer campaign conducted at the Newman-Todd property, located in Red Lake, Ontario.
The company targeted NT-110 and NT-111 drill holes on cross section 1700, wherein the holes were made to analyze extension of gold mineralization in high grade over NT-071 and NT-072 holes which encountered broad zones of gold mineralization with several intercepts that are greater than 10 g/t.
Drill hole NT-111 intersected 13 m of 5.71 g/t gold, including two sections of higher grade averaging 17.10 g/t gold over 1 m and 49.60 g/t gold over 1 m; NT-111 intersected 45 m of 1.21 g/t gold, including 13.10 g/t gold over 1 m; NT-110 intersected 1 m of 5.84 g/t gold.
At the Cross section 1700, four drill holes have been completed inside the upper part of the Newman Todd Structure. On this cross section, there are several gold intercepts greater than 10 g/t. This cross section denotes a 50 m thick slice through the Newman Todd Structure. High-grade mineralization is believed to occur in the northwest dipping silica-sulphide +/- magnetite replacement zones. These zones remain exposed at depth and along strike.
Confederation Minerals’ CEO, Lawrence Dick commented that drilling on section 1700 has demonstrated gold mineralization continuity between the drill holes. The company believes that this continuity of gold mineralization occurs all through the Newman Todd Structure. Moreover, there is an evidence of regional geology which indicates that it could be more than a few kilometres deep. This Red Lake type system could extend to considerable depth. Based on these aspects, the company has planned further drilling work.
