Xstrata Technology and GeoProMining Gold, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of GeoProMining, have inked an Albion Process Technology Licence Agreement for GPM gold project.
According to the agreement terms, GeoProMining Gold will utilize fine grind and oxidative leach technology from Xstrata in order to carry out the recovery of silver and gold from sulphide concentrates obtained from the GPM gold project in Armenia
Both the companies entered into the licence contract after completing a 2011 bankable feasibility study that contained batch and continuous pilot facility testing on samples obtained from the GPM Gold mine, located in Armenia. The feasibility study showed that high-grade recoveries of gold and silver can be obtained cost-effectively from the GPM sulphide concentrates, through the Albion process.
Xstrata Technology has been contracted by GeoProMining Gold in order to deliver design and supply package to the Albion Process facility, and to finish comprehensive design of the current flotation plant upgrade. The company will provide a 10 m diameter high rate thickener, an M3000 IsaMill grinding unit, 140 tpd limestone grinding unit, 12 ZipaTank modular leach and slurry storage reactors and 120 tpd oxygen plant to GeoProMining Gold for use in the project. GeoProMining Gold has ordered long lead items for the project and has commenced civil works at the plant location.
Commissioning of the Albion Process facility will be carried out during April 2013.
