Sono Resources has announced that it has commenced its planned exploration program for 2012 as per an agreement it entered with Alaska Metals.
Towards this end, Keill Engineering from Fairbanks, Alaska has conducted a Mobile Metal Ion geochemical program on 4 grid lines for 219 samples. These samples have been forwarded to SGS Canada of Ontario for further analysis.
SJ Geophysics conducted a 3D polarisation/resistivity survey recently. The data from this survey combined with the data from the Mobile Metal Ion sample results will be used as a basis for drilling 6 to 10 targets for NQ sized diamond. The drilling will commence by August of this year. Alaska Metals intends to spend $600,000 to $900,000 for exploration programs including additional MMI sampling, an IP survey and a core drilling program consisting of 6 to 10 targets at depths of 4,000 to 6,000 ft.
During 1990 and 1991, a systematic drilling program was carried out in the Bear Claims property by BHP-Utah International. Geological mapping and testing of more than 287 rock samples was carried out at that time. Even now Alaska Metals conducts re-interpretation of the resistivity data, MMI sampling and also does the confirmation of geological mapping.
The share exchange agreement between Sono Resources and Alaska Metal was carried out during May 2012.
