Cobriza Metals has reported that it had completed the phase I reverse circulation (RC) drill program at the Arikepay property on 24 June, 2012. The company has obtained geochemical results for holes from RC-12-ARI-001 to 003.
The company drilled 14 RC holes, totaling 3,630 m at the property. It had drilled five RC holes in the sparsely exposed altered outcrop area, containing strong anomalous rock geochemistry of gold, copper and molybdenum. Cobriza drilled the remaining nine RC holes towards the northwestern and northern part of these five holes in order to examine the lightly exposed altered outcrop extension beneath younger gravel cover. Lesser andesitic volcanic rocks and fine grained to porphyritic intrusive rocks are included in dominant lithologies. It is difficult to determine textures and types of rocks because of extreme alteration.
An arcuate phyllic, propylitic, silicic and lower potassic alteration zone having different intensity trends towards NNW for around 2.2 km. Over half of this alteration zone is present beneath the gravel cover towards the NNW and NW of the popular and sparsely exposed altered outcrop area. Additionally, 11 RC holes out of 13 have moderate to heavy fracture filling and dispersed pyrite mineralization. Mineralization and alteration are exposed towards north and at depth.
The company will consider different options to conduct additional work at the property after analytical results are received from all RC holes. Cobriza collected 5 kg of samples from every RC hole and sent them to Peru-based SGS Laboratories for preparation and examination.
The Arikepay property is accessible by road and lies about 110 km towards the southern part of Arequipa, and is located 45 km towards south of the Cerro Verde mine, containing copper and molybdenum.
