BOWMORE Exploration has reported that it has released the 2012 drilling results from the St-Victor property, which is situated 15 km towards the eastern part of the town of Asbestos in Southeast Quebec.
This exploration campaign was specifically designed to examine the Wotton NW gold zone expansions, where the 2011 drilling intercepted homogenous mineralized gold present in dispersed or bedded pyrite in a black slate unit.
The St-Victor campaign mines this geologically favorable bulk-tonnage, low-grade gold deposit areas that were analogous to those identified at Sukhoi Log or at Paracatu mine located in Brazil. Last year, the Paracatu mine generated 453,400 oz gold.
The company completed five holes, totaling 1193 m, in order to examine the extension and possible grade development of the stratabound mineralized gold towards the southern and western parts and 200 m down-plunge beside an anticlinal fold structure dipping gently. Anomalous values of gold present in pyrite-bearing black slates were encountered in all drill holes.
All holes were specifically drilled towards the southeastern part, excluding the hole V12-09 that was collared on the similar location at DDH V11-01. Significant mineralization was intercepted in the latter hole, which is believed to have been drilled over the mineralized horizon’s top portion.
The small mineralized interval identified in DDH V12-13 indicates that the zone mineralization is moved towards the northwestern part of the fold structure found deep besides the fold axis.
The Wotton NW gold and additional mineralized zones present in the St-Victor property validate the capability for huge, low-grade, dispersed sediment-hosted deposits for gold. Now, the company is geologically mapping the property to better understand the stratigraphic location and distribution of the pyritic horizon and its structural setting located in the Wotton NW zone.
The company is intending to conduct an aerial gravity gradiometer survey in order to form the prospective for huge gold-rich sulfide deposits at the property.
