Orex Minerals, a Canada-based junior exploration firm, along with Fresnillo, has announced that the phase II 12,000 m diamond drill campaign has been started at the Coneto gold-silver project in Mexico. This project will be supervised by a joint technical committee, with Fresnillo and Orex.
Kluane Drilling (KDL), a global diamond drilling firm, uses modularized mobile drill equipment in order to reduce social and ecological impact. For example, the KDHT-1000 service rig has the capacity to drill more than 800 m depth of intermediate NTW-size core and more than 500 m depth of huge HTW-size core.
According to Gary Cope, President of Orex, the company’s phase I exploration drill campaign was successfully completed at the Coneto project. Orex is expecting the results of this recent diamond drill program. An amount of $2.5 million has been approved by the joint technical committee for this season’s exploration.
The location of the previous Coneto Mining district is at the centre of the Mexican silver trend, which spreads from Guanajuato in the southeastern direction, through Durango and Zacatecas. This trend houses a number of huge silver deposits, which include Zacatecas, Real de Angeles, La Preciosa, La Pitarrilla, Guanajuato and Fresnillo mining camps.
Wide adjacent mineral concessions are held by Fresnillo and Orex in the Coneto mining district, which encloses over 40 prominent mineralized quartz epithermal veins and includes roughly 17,600 ha. The Coneto project lies in the Mesa Central, which is situated on the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains’ east flank.
