Colt Resources, Canada-based junior exploration firm, has obtained the latest analytical results from two diamond holes drilled during the current program, which is aimed at identifying and outlining satellite tungsten resources adjacent to the Tabuaço tungsten project. This project is situated in the Armamar-Meda concession in North Portugal.
These holes include hole DHT-71 and DHT-72. The hole DHT-71 drilled at the Aveleira tungsten deposit’s north zone and is situated about 700 m towards the northern part of the resource outlined at Tabuaço. Hole DHT-72 is the initial exploration hole that is to be drilled to examine the soil geochemical anomalies, which were identified in the intervals between the Aveleira discovery and Tabuaço tungsten resource.
The results from hole DHT-71 at Aveleira validate the skarn tungsten deposit expansion for at least 200 m of strike in the NW-SE direction. The company has commenced step-out drill program across strike in order to find the deposit’s lateral level, in which the deposits is considered to gently dip into the mountain and beneath the granite outcrop.
Because of the small conventional rig, drill program has been slowed down at the Aveleira deposit. The company has inked an agreement with Geocontrole, a drill contractor from Portugal, in order to enhance the evaluation drill campaign at the Aveleira discovery. Previously, Geocontrole has brought an additional drill rig to Aveleira and will also bring another drilling rig in early September.
Freshly identified, non-outcropping skarn tungsten horizon in an interval between the Aveleira discovery and the Tabuaço resource is an additional exploration success at the Tabuaço project. This horizon shows that further tungsten deposit areas can be discovered in the project, and indicates that new exploration dependent on soil geochemistry can trace further mineralization.
Hole DHT-72 identified the skarn that is situated 150 m towards the northern part of the Tabuaço resource region. Colt has already begun the follow-up drill program to hole DHT-72 to define the level of this skarn horizon. Many other soil geochemical anomalies are present in the Tabuaço-Aveleira gap and will be drill tested in the future.
