Sama Resources has declared that assay results have been obtained from further 13 holes drilled at the recently identified nickel cobalt rich laterite deposit called the Gogota Deposit. This deposit is located in the Lola project in East Guinea, West Africa.
A drilling campaign was started in April 2012 at the Gogota deposit for about 1,500 m. The company has obtained assays from 17 holes and is currently carrying out drill program at the deposit.
Since the commencement of the regional exploration during April 2012, Sama has discovered 27 fresh potential laterite plateaus at the Lola project. The total surface area of these 27 laterite plateaus is 7.8 sq. km.
The company’s two Jacro 175 core drilling rigs were utilized for the drilling program. Sama conducted core sampling and logging at its facility in Gogota village.
Samples were prepared by Bureau Veritas Mineral Laboratory's (BVML) plant located in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, and were directly shipped to Inspectorate Metals and Minerals, an assay laboratory in South Africa. The company, with the help of peroxide fusion XRF, assayed all the samples for cobalt, nickel and other main oxides. Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry was used to determine scandium.
At present, exploration phase is being conducted at the Lola project in Guinea. Sama’s wholly-owned subsidiary holds the project’s exploration licenses.
Sama’s CEO and President, Dr. Marc-Antoine Audet, P.Geo., designed the drilling and exploration campaign at its Gogota deposit.
