AREVA has inked two long-term supply agreements with EDF Group, a major supplier of nuclear power in the world.
According to the contract terms, more than 30,000 t of natural uranium will be supplied by AREVA to EDF nuclear facilities for an extended period of time from 2014 to 2035. This contract is believed to be AREVA’s largest uranium supply. Therefore, the company has become the main partner of EDF by receiving the long-term uranium supply contract.
According to AREVA’s Chief Executive Officer, Luc Oursel, the supply contracts further reinforce EDF’s confidence in AREVA’s durable and competitive solutions.
EDF’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Henri Proglio commented that the supply contracts have played a crucial role in executing the strategic relationship with AREVA at the beginning of this year. They denote a significant contribution to EDF’s supply security and reflect the unity of the nuclear sector in France.
The EDF Group is one of energy supplier in Europe. It is an integrated energy firm, which is active in various business realms such as generation, transmission, delivery, and trading of energy. The Group is the main producer of electricity in Europe and mostly has hydraulic and nuclear generation plants in France where 96.5% of electricity produced is free from carbon dioxide. EDF provides energy and services to about 27.9 M customers in France.
