Standard Graphite has reported that the confirmation drilling phase has been completed at the Mousseau East graphite deposit. The company is conducting the drill program with the exploration and extension stages of the 2012 fall program.
This drill campaign was the first to be performed at the deposit subsequent to a historical resource’s discovery and drilling. The phase I program is aimed to reproduce several historical holes to confirm the former dataset and continue with the latest resource estimation compliant.
In phase I drill program, some 12 historical drill holes were replicated that show about 20% of the original diamond holes, which helped in estimating the historical resource.
After discussion with P&E Mining Consultants, the company has scheduled to carry out the confirmation drill program. The P&E Mining Consultants will handle the future NI-43-101 resource calculation.
Initial visual inspections show a strong correlation between the confirmation drill program, which was completed recently, and the previous drilling. The company is preparing samples, which will be delivered to Ontario-based Act Labs for assaying graphitic carbon. MRB & Associates of Québec is supervising the drill program, including logging and sampling that are being conducted at the property.
According to Standard Graphite’s CEO and President, Chris Bogart, the company believes this validation drill phase to be a primary step to rebuild the resource identified at Mousseau East property. In this, the potential of utilizing the previous dataset facilitate the company to save capital as well as time.
Standard Graphite acquired the Mousseau East property in April 2012 and the property lies some 40 km towards the northeastern part of the town of Mont-Laurier, Northwest Québec, and within 50 km of Lac-des-Îles Graphite Mine.
