GEONOVUS MINERALS CORP. ("GeoNovus" or the "Company") announces that drilling is commencing at the Company's Silver Bell West porphyry copper property in south central Arizona.
The Silver Bell West claims cover portions of the open pit mine haul road and are located immediately adjacent to ASARCO's Silver Bell Mine, which began operations in 1954 and produced 46.3 million pounds of high-purity copper cathodes in 2010 ('ASARCO mining giant notching 100 years of operation in AZ'; Arizona Daily Star, March 4, 2012).
Two drill sites have been selected just south of the haul road located 650-700 meters from ASARCO's Oxide Pit, with at least one hole planned from each site. The targeted porphyry copper and molybdenum mineralization is based on a recently completed alteration mapping program and on observations of mineralized drill cuttings from several historic drill sites. The drill site locations relative to the Silver Bell Mine and other data can be seen on the company website.
The Silver Bell West property is under lease from Bronco Creek Exploration (see Geo Minerals News Release August 27, 2009), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eurasian Minerals Inc. (NYSE MKT:EMXX)(TSX VENTURE:EMX).
