Minaurum Gold Inc. ("Minaurum") is pleased to announce the identification of four new target zones at its 10,783 hectare Jackie gold-silver project in Guerrero State, Mexico.
The skarn/porphyry project is located within 70 kilometers of the Guerrero Gold Belt ("GGB") and shares important geological characteristics with the mines of that district. Jackie was staked by David M. Jones who was responsible for the discovery of Goldcorp's Los Filos mine in the GGB.
La Sorpresa Target
Identified outcropping granodiorite and associated skarn-altered and recrystallized limestone (the La Sorpresa area) measures roughly 1.5 by 1.0 km. Rock sampling yielded values as high as 1.2 g/t Au and 1200 g/t Ag.
NW-SE Trending Targets
Two NW-SE mineralized trends have been identified. A series of mine workings dating to the 1900s attests from the first trend indicate significant widths of silver mineralization over a strike length of at least one kilometre. The second trend, the El Capire zone, is associated with skarn and recrystallized limestone similar to the La Sorpresa zone, and lies roughly 2 km to the southwest of the first zone. The zone has yielded strong values of arsenic and antimony, important pathfinder elements in the GGB. Recent sampling of dump material from a shaft on a NW-SE-striking vein yielded values as high as 14.3 g/t gold and 2688 g/t silver.
NE-SW Veins/Shears
An area of northeast-southwest jasperoid vein/shear zones associated with Ag/Au mineralization lies in the southwest/central part of the project area. Sampling in this zone previous to Minaurum's involvement has reported a gold value of 6 g/t Au, and numerous silver values in excess of 100 g/t, including samples assaying 1200 g/t Ag and 1410 g/t Ag.
To date, Minaurum's sampling at Jackie has included 71 stream-sediment samples, 85 rock-chip samples, and 175 soil samples. Stream-sediment sampling showed anomalous values ranging up to 76 parts per billion (ppb) gold and 2.6 parts per million (ppm) silver in addition to anomalous values of the pathfinder elements arsenic, antimony, and bismuth. These anomalous samples correspond to areas of skarn-altered intrusive diorites and Morelos Formation limestone, similar to the geological settings of the Guerrero Gold Belt. An airborne VTEM/magnetic survey was completed in 2011. A strong magnetic high underlies the areas of all of the identified target zones and measures about 8 km NE-SW by 4 km NW-SE.
"As Minaurum continues to drill permit its flagship Vuelcos del Destino project located in the Guerrero Gold Belt, we are pleased to continue advancing our other projects in the vicinity to the drill stage," commented Darrell Rader, President and CEO of Minaurum. "At Jackie, we are pleased to have discovered several GGB style targets as well as returning significant high-grade silver and gold results."
