Williams Creek Explorations Limited (TSX VENTURE:WCX) has received approval to launch a diamond drilling program on its crown granted mineral properties adjacent to Barkerville, British Columbia.
The permit, which will last until the end of 2011, provides for up to 72 holes at 29 locations.
"The area around Barkerville has long been considered an enticing target for geological exploration, and I am enthused that Williams Creek now has permits which will allow it to explore its holdings over the next 12 months," said Michael Sonnenreich, Chairman and CEO of Williams Creek.
"Williams Creek has a three part strategy: a) to explore its existing holdings, b) to participate in equity and joint venture agreements, and c) to engage in royalty and finance agreements," added Mr. Sonnenreich. "The exploration of Williams Creek's holdings near Barkerville definitely fits the first one of those three categories, and shows that Williams Creek is actively pursuing its goals."
Roughly half of the permitted drill locations were chosen to follow up historic geological targets. The other half of the drill targets test Williams Creek's holdings on Barkerville Mountain, where Williams Creek received encouraging results from a drill campaign conducted in 2006 (see Williams Creek Explorations Limited, NR June 13, 2007). Barkerville Mountain also hosts the "Bonanza Ledge" zone where another company recently had encouraging results (Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd., NR October 4, 2010).
