Newly elected Labor leader of Western Australia, Mark McGowan announced a major policy change on uranium mining. The opposition party had previously claimed that it would shut down any approved uranium project if it was elected next year.

Gov. McDonnell Asks Legislature to Keep Uranium Mining Moratorium‎ in Place

In Virginia the Governor Bob McDonnell has asked the state legislature to keep the moratorium on uranium mining alive for the 2012 session. He also asked his administration to come up with a further study on the issue using a working group so that a well informed decision could be made in the future.

ERA Warns of Drop in Uranium Production at Ranger

Energy Resources of Australia has forewarned of a drop in production levels due to flooding in the Ranger pit in the Northern Territory. ERA said that the rainfall flooding has prevented it from accessing high grade ore.
