Having originally traded under the names Beazer Plant Sales and BM Plant between 1972 and 1993, the Company became HM Plant in 1993 before becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe in 2007 and eventually changing its name to Hitachi Construction Machinery UK in 2014.
From the company’s formation to the present day the ethos has been to be the leading name in construction equipment in the UK, by delivering market leading products with national product support.
Within the first year of becoming a Hitachi sub-dealer; distributing Hitachi’s range of hydraulic excavators, the Company was appointed Hitachi’s official UK importer in 1980. In 2004 their Headquarters were relocated from Somerset, and moved to a purpose-built seven acre site at Hebburn, South Tyneside to allow easier and cost effective importation of machines via the North Sea from Amsterdam, Oosterhout and Japan.
Following a £5m investment, the headquarters are now a statement for the values and work ethics that has made Hitachi Construction Machinery synonymous within the construction, quarry and mining industries. The premises provides the platform to continue producing the best machinery, allowing the Company to continue to develop the most forward thinking ideas and turn them into reality.
Today, the company supplies; mini, medium, large and wheeled excavators, wheel loaders, parts, servicing and 24-hour support seven days a week (by pre-arrangement) to the UK and Irish construction industry, with national coverage from its ten depots and appointed sub-dealers in Ireland.
Forty years in the making, their success and ability to stand the test of time have been rewarded with the coveted title of “UK’s number one excavator supplier”.
