Finish Thompson Inc. has been dedicated to the needs of our customers for nearly 75 years. Since our founding in 1951, we have fostered a culture of foresight and adaptability to stay in touch with industry trends and growth.
Founded as a designer and builder of custom painting/finishing equipment, Finish Engineering Co. acquired Thompson Manufacturing, a local drum pump manufacturer. Ten years later, we launched Thompson Chemtrex and began to design and manufacture sealed centrifugal pumps.
The following year, in 1983, we pivoted our Finish Engineering business to the design and manufacture of solvent distillation equipment. We launched our first mag drive centrifugal pump in 1989.
In 1990, Finish Engineering and Thompson Chemtrex were merged to form Finish Thompson Inc. (FTI).
Since that time, we have worked diligently and consistently to be the most trusted leader in the corrosive chemical transfer space. In 1996, thanks in part to our acquisition of Atlas Pumps, we began to manufacture stainless steel centrifugal pumps. In the 2000s, we released three separate mag-drive series, and in 2015 we introduced our air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pump line: FTI Air. In 2023, FTI acquired Penguin Pumps, Inc., parent company of Filter Pump Industries, a southern California company that manufactures corrosion-resistant pumps, mixers, filter systems/chambers.
Today, we manufacture more than 20 different lines of pumps, as well as accessories, within the walls of our 80,000 square-foot facility in Erie, Pennsylvania. We are proud to serve distributors and customers on six continents, and support more than 40 different industries across the globe.
