Midlands Minerals has announced the reverse circulation (RC) drill results from the Kaniago west zone. This is one of three zones in a strike length of 7 km that is targeted for drilling at the Kaniago-Abore-Keegan trend. The location of the Kaniago gold project is 20 km south of 4 Moz Esaase gold deposits of Keegan Resources.
The company has drilled ten RC drill holes at the Kaniago west zone having 50 m spacing to 150 m depth and 100 m as line spacing. It has cut 1.78 g/t gold over 6 m in hole KNRC 005, 1.67 g/t gold over 4 m in hole KNRC 004 and 1.42 g/t gold over 10 m in hole KNRC 005.
These are the initial holes ever drilled on this property and has analyzed the western part of the Kaniago gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly. The company has planned for additional drilling at the geochemical anomalies along a 7 km NNE trend that is on direct strike with 4 Moz old deposit of Keegan Resources, subsequent to the geological refinement of the geophysical and geochemical targets. 9 out of 10 holes were mineralized.
The company has drill tested >150 ppb gold soil anomaly with 470 ppb, 340 ppb, 320 ppb, 320 ppb and 320 ppb as the five highest values. It has outlined a multiple intersection zone and a 400 m strike length open in both directions. The company completed the drill program along the east-west soil lines at an inclination of -55° and an azimuth of 135° and projected the intersections to the surface vertically. Phyllite in milky quartz, which has minor arsenopyrite and pyrite were contained in the gold mineralization.
