Sona Resources has commenced a 3,000 m surface diamond drilling program at its Elizabeth gold deposit property. This property is located in the Lillooet Mining District of southern BC.
The primary drill holes are targeting the Southwest vein mineralized zone’s southwest end, wherein excellent visible gold intersections were defined in the last drilling program. The three drill holes in the southwesterly cross-section yielded multiple assay values intersecting 20.0 g/t gold over 0.7 m in E04-11A, 109.5g g/t gold over 1.1 m in hole E10-67 and 77 g/t gold over 2.2 m in hole E10-69.
The location of the vein intersection in the cross-section’s deepest hole is 80 m under the surface. The company has completed drilling of 333.6 m, totaling two holes in the ongoing program.
The CEO and President of the company, has stated that this ongoing 2011 exploration drilling program has produced high-grade assay results.
NQ-sized drill bits are employed by the company. Sona used a diamond saw to cut the assays and the samples for analysis into half. It will send half of the core for the lab analysis and the remaining half is protected for future reference. The samples will be tested for gold by multi-element ICP and standard fire assay atomic absorption finish methods.
