Manson Creek Resources has commenced the diamond drilling program at the Virgin Arm gold property in Newfoundland.
The target of this drilling program will be on the gold mineralization at the Homer and Hank zones, which have encountered 0.5 g/t gold to more than 10 g/t gold. As per the 1,500 m drilling program, 10 diamond drill holes will be completed along 400 m of mineralized gold.
The company has announced the receipt and interpretation of the assay information that was obtained during the late spring trenching program performed at the Virgin Arm property. This trenching program unearthed five zones located mainly in the Discovery Ridge region, which is situated around 150 to 500 m to Hank Zone’s western side. These Homer and Hank zones are enclosed by wide low-grade gold mineralization zones, which were exposed during trenching along a strike length of 825 m near the Discovery Ridge. Manson Creek has cut 0.83 g/t gold over 1.0 m present in a wider zone grading 0.26 g/t gold over 9.6 m.While preparing the drill pads for the ongoing drilling, the company completed minor trenching at the Homer and Hank zones. It has intersected 1.37 g/t gold over 1.0 m interval present within 3.0 m grading 0.72 g/t gold at the GBY South trench, which is situated 30 m to Homer Zone’s western side.
The latest 2011 soil sample results have defined extensive and high-grade gold and arsenic anomalies over a strike length ranging hundreds of meters along the Discovery Ridge area indicating that the zone is larger than the area examined by the spring trenching program. The zone is a stronger anomaly existing along the strike to the south of the Hank Zone.
The company’s work conducted in 2011 comprises a comprehensive 18.6 line-km soil sampling program, mechanized trenching of gold and arsenic in soil anomalies mainly in the Discovery Ridge, which is lateral to the Homer and Hank zones. Gold mineralized zones discovered by the trenching program were mapped organically in detail and completed the continuous channel sampling at the potential geology.
The location of the property is 75 km from Gander in Newfoundland containing gold in a mineralized corridor of 4.2 km in the three trenched zones namely Homer, Hank and Barney.
