Baobab Resources has provided the details on the exploration works that are ongoing at the Tete iron-vanadium-titanium project and Massamba Camp.
The resource estimate for the South Zone prospect is planned for release in August, 2011. The final work from the remaining examinations is pending.
Baobab has completed the expansion resource drilling at the Chitongue Grande with 36 reverse circulation (RC) holes, totaling 6,275 m. It has cut the down dip and along strike outcrops of the current resource.
The company is advancing the drill program at Tenge-Ruoni. It has cut a heavy mineralized package with varying widths from 60 m to 150 m. Mineralisation has been folded synformally along with the fold hinge dipping lightly to the west-northwest. The exploration in the prospect region has been separated into three resource blocks namely, Ruoni North, Ruoni South and Tenge.
Ruoni North signifies a strike of 1 km along the fold’s north limb. Baobab has completed 22 diamond and RC drill holes, totaling 4,040 m across seven traverses. The drilling has cut a robust mineralization package from the surface dipping at 25° to 45° to the southwest. The company has to drill further five holes before the starting of the resource calculation work.
Ruoni South represents a strike length of 1.2 km along the fold’s south limb and is situated around 1 km south of the Ruoni North. Baobab has drilled 12 RC and diamond holes and needs further nine holes to complete the drilling. Ruoni South area’s mineralization is normally dipping steeper.
Tenge represents the fold’s hinge zone and encloses a region of around 0.5 sq. km. The company prepares the drill locations for the two diamond rigs, which has planned to start drilling by the August end. It has planned to analyze about 3,000 m of the Tenge area.
The MD of Baobab has stated that the development in drilling efficiency has allowed the exploration programs over the Massamba Camp to be on track. Baobab’s drilling at Ruoni-Tenge is positive and supports the confidence that the prospect will have readily usable, extensive resources. It is expected that the completion of drilling at Ruoni North and South will be by August end corresponding with the beginning of drilling at Tenge.
He also said that Baobab is closely functioning with the laboratories in Australia and Mozambique to make sure that the fine potential analytical work times and expect to provide the South Zone’s resource estimate, ensued by Ruoni and Chitongue Grande in September and October.
