Mawson Resources announced that it received assays confirming high-grade uranium mineralization at its Riutta project situated in east Finland.
The results of the assays are from a 10 hole diamond drilling exploration program. Mawson Resources is a leading Scandinavian gold and uranium exploration company with a focus on the flagship Rompas project in Finland.
The drilling program which included 1,065 metres, was conducted on the Ristimonttu prospect in the year 2009 by Areva Resources Finland. However the drill core was not sampled w=until the property was sold to Mawson Resources in April 2010. Mawson Resources has now accessed the core and identified mineralized interval as well as completed the sampling and the assaying.
The president and Chief Executive Officer, Micheal Hudson said that the Riutta project was fully permitted for exploration, mineralization remained open along strike and down dip, and Mawson looked forward further testing the project's potential utilizing their recent geophysical survey results.
Mr Hudson added that this was the best uranium drill result in Finland's history and demonstrates the potential for high grade and near surface uranium at the Riutta project. Best historical drill results at the Riutta property include 3.6 metres at 1.1% uranium, including 0.35 metres grading 9.79% uranium, in hole 324 on the Unimonttu prospect, drilled about 260 metres south-southeast of AREVA DH 1. Additionally, on the Kolmosviuhka prospect, prior results found one metre at 0.35% uranium in hole AE-7, located 450 metres south-southeast of AREVA DH 1.
