American Petro-Hunter has started drilling the horizontal oil well, NOW-2H, at its North Oklahoma Mississippi project. The service drilling rig has reached onsite and the company has immediately begun the spud program.
This horizontal well is located 1.5 mi from and a direct 160 A offset to the NOM-1H well. The following directional program will directly drill a 1,600 ft lateral leg along the limestone of the Mississippi formation pay zone, which is 100 ft wide, when the Mississippi formation reservoir is formed perpendicularly.
The company will take 15-18 days of drilling to attain the total depth and later it expects a speedy program for the well completion. At present, the aim of the company is to have pumping of the second horizontal well to the current gas pipeline and tank battery by October end.
The President of the company has commented that this NOW2-H is the second well out of the 11 wells, which will be drilled in the prosperous North Oklahoma Mississippi Lime Play. The reservoir in the mid-continent area is in progress. He added that the company has a desirable position to enter into some good leases in the complete play. An aggressive drill program has been planned to commence a fresh well.
