Coastal Energy has drilled the A-10 horizontal well at Bua Ban North. This A-10 horizontal well was the first development well in Bua Ban North.
The company drilled the well into the Miocene reservoir, located on the field’s west portion. The well obtained net pay of 1,185 ft with high quality in the horizontal segment. The company drilled the well’s lateral part at around 3,695 ft TVD that is 130 ft over the known water level. It completed the A-10 horizontal well using a submersible pump and the well is prepared for the commencement of production, once the installation of MOPU is completed.
The MOPU is at the site and the company is expecting to decide the installation by this week end. Coastal Energy will spud the A-11 well at Bua Ban North and will drill the well down the west fault block’s high structural fault plane.
Coastal Energy’s CEO and President, Randy Bartley, stated that the company is delighted with the results received from the primary horizontal Miocene development well. Less than $3 million was spent to drill the A-10 horizontal development wells, which are very efficient for the development of the field. High seas and bad weather circumstances postponed the MOPU installation. But the company is anticipating the initial production to be made online by November end and all the wells at Bua Ban North to be producing and online by mid-January.
