Alliance Resources Announces End of Litigation Over Four Mile Uranium Project

The Four Mile uranium project in South Australia is now expected to get under way despite the long delays. The legal battle which had stopped the mine from progressing is now to be settled out of court nearly two years after legal action was initiated.

The law suit had been brought about by Alliance Resources against its joint venture partner Healthgate. It dealt with the registration of a native title mining agreement. The matter has been adjourned in the South Australian Supreme Court allowing the two parties to come to an out of court settlement.

The US group Healthgate holds 75% of the joint venture and while the terms of the settlement have been kept private the project is now likely to proceed unhindered. The shares of Alliance Resources jumped up by 78% after the news was declared.

The Four Mile uranium project will be South Australia’s fifth uranium mine. It is said to have 71 million pounds of U-308. This is the highest and most profitable grade of uranium in Australia. The mine is going to cost $210 million to develop. Managing director of Alliance Resources, Patrick Mutz is a happy man at the resolution.
