Northern Iron is continuing the drilling program at the Karas property located in the Red Lake mining division of Ontario, Canada.
The company will commence the drilling on 11 January, 2012. Two rigs are mobilized to the drilling site. The company drilled 26 holes at the property in the end of 2011 and has announced the drilling results of 18 holes. The management has decided to expand the program to 2012 for drilling further holes between the length of 600 and 700 m. These holes are being drilled to find the down dip expansion and true width of the magnetite mineralized region on the property.
According to Basil Botha, Northern Iron’s CEO and President, the advantages offered by the Red Lake region allow the company to work throughout the year, when majority of other fly-in programs have been stopped. The company had stopped its operation for three weeks to give a break to the drilling crews. Drilling has been stopped in almost all the iron ore projects in Canada in view of the winter season. However, these programs will begin once the weather turns warm.
The drilling results will help Roscoe Postle Associates and the team to define the mineralized region for an indicated and measured NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource calculation.
