Commander Resources has discovered two anomalous gold zones through the continuation of the field program at the Glenmorangie gold property, which is situated in Southeast Yukon.
The company has encountered gold values up to 106 ppb from anomalous soil values and up to 4.5 g/t from grab rock samples. The zone, whose length is 3 km and thickness is 2 km, is located in the north portions of the claims, wherein the company has mapped several significant quartz veins.
Commander found the second zone, which is located towards the southern part, by means of sampling and mapping program. The company identified a North West trending fault system with gold in soils, returning gold values up to 131 ppb. Heavy metal concentrate sampling program conducted on the silts from this region yielded 8 grains of gold.
The company received 205 rock samples, 1,350 soil samples, six bulk silt samples and 20 silt samples from the 5,600 ha property during 2011. ALS Minerals processed the samples in the laboratory located in Vancouver and Whitehorse, through ICP-MS methods.
Commander has conducted geological mapping at the area and has discovered large amounts of structural complexity. Several small intrusive bodies, which were not formerly recorded, have been discovered. The company’s additional work will focus on the coincidence of gold values present along the structural corridors. The company will plan for a 2012 program in the subsequent months.
