Wind River Energy has announced that it has completed certain geological and engineering studies.
The company has signed a contract with Capstar Drilling in order to drill the next well at the Phat City oil project, whose area is 56,785 ac. The company has planned to commence the program using a drill rig during the week beginning 19 March, 2012. The well is specifically designed to examine the Nisku formation’s two benches. In addition, this well will be formed in such a way as to analyze the Three Forks or Bakken formation later.
Hunter Energy and Wind River have been analyzing new data that was developed from the first Phat City well drilling results and fresh seismic information obtained from the Phat City project. The design and location of the second well was expanded with the advantages of this study and this well is focusing on the accumulation of oil in the Three Forks or Bakken and Nisku formations.
According to Wind River Energy’s Chief Executive Officer, Alan O’Hare, the company discovered oil in the first well for 70 ft of Three Forks or Bakken and 14 ft of upper Nisku. The quantity of oil will be identified by the next 51-101 resource reserve report. The company is delighted about the second well that has been specifically designed with the knowledge gained from the initial well. It is anticipating this well to be significant and continue the Phat City project expansion to a multi-pay oil field.
