Manitou Gold has reported that the company has obtained assay results of 12 diamond holes out of 26 drilled recently at the Kenwest property, which is situated in Northwest Ontario.
The focus of the winter exploration phase was to assess a low ground section in the #2 Shear zone, which can be accessed only during winter when the ground is frozen.
Considerable level of mineralized gold was encountered through the near-surface holes that targeted the #2 shear zone. The results from the company's former drilling and channel sampling program have shown a continuous mineralized segment along a strike of around 300 m and to 100 m of vertical depth. The company intersected 2.9 g/t gold over 9.4 m in drill hole KW-12-84, 4.7 g/t gold over 3.5 m in drill hole KW-12-86 and 5.1 g/t gold over 2.7 m in drill hole KW-12-88.
The #2 Shear zone has shown excellent possibility for mineralization extension, down plunge and along strike. A steep vertical plunge has been displayed through several high-grade shoots on the parallel #1 Shear zone. Step out holes located outside the lower ground will be involved in the further drilling, which is performed to examine this #2 Shear area’s plunge component. The company has planned to conduct follow up drill program for examining the #2 Shear zone’s down-plunge level.
Manitou Gold drilled further 14 holes at the Kenwest property during the winter season and completed additional seven holes at the Sherridon project. The company will announce the assay results of the further drill holes at the earliest.
