Tembo Gold has started the drill program using a reverse circulation (RC) and two diamond drill rigs at Nyakagwe East, which is one of the high-priority phase I drilling target areas present in the Tembo project, Tanzania.
Two parallel zones of historical and active artisanal mining, which are trending towards the northwest direction, are included in the Nyakagwe East target. The company has analyzed the target zones and has found it to parallel towards the dominant regional structures, trending towards northwest direction. Tembo encountered 9.80 g/t gold over 3.40 m in the north zone and 10.25 g/t gold over 3.50 m in the south zone during the early diamond drill program at the Nyakagwe East target.
The company has planned to drill 4,000 m, totaling 26 diamond holes, along 100 m spaced sections at the Nyakagwe East zones and targets two parallel structures at a depth of 50 and 100 m, respectively below the surface. It will carry out follow-up diamond drill program for cutting the structures along the similar section lines at a depth of 150 and 200 m, respectively.
Tembo has also planned to conduct 18,500 m of RC drilling, totaling 124 holes, along six fences in order to examine the structures’ southeast and northwest expansions. RC drilling will cut the gold-bearing expansions and the diamond drill program will be carried out to validate and outline further possible mineralization.
The Nyakagwe East target features two different parallel zones of artisanal works. Mineralization is associated with at least two quartz veins that were related to shear zones in basaltic host rocks. Mineralized sulphide has pyrite present in a shear zone together with strong quartz veining.
