Sarama Resources has declared that it has finalized the proposed and extended drilling programs in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
The company carried out the bulk of the drill program during the first half of this year and targeted the South Houndé project.
The company began an 11,000 m of reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Tankoro permit during January 2012. This RC program was extended to 24,000 m after receiving encouraging results from the program. The company’s further drill program targeted the extensional and infill target areas at the MM prospect, and the scout drill program focused on other regions located in the Tankoro structural corridor. The company conducted an additional 11,000 m of RC scout drill program on other permits, located in the South Houndé project including kilometre-scale gold-in-soil anomalies.
After the RC drilling, the company mobilized a diamond drilling rig to perform a preliminary 2,800 m campaign at the MM prospect during February 2012. The range of this drilling was expanded to 11,000 m, subsequent to the return of first positive results. The company completed a 14,000 m of rotary-air-blast (RAB) drilling across several gold-in-soil anomalies located in the MM Prospect.
West Africa-based four independently operated assay laboratories are being used to process the samples. The company has to assay around 3,000 diamond drill core samples, 5,000 RAB samples and 6,000 RC samples. It was able to manage its operations around this constant backlog and will continue to supervise the throughput of these assay laboratories.
