Donner Metals Reports Latest Drilling Results on Matagami Project

The executor of the Matagami project, Xstrata Canada – Xstrata Zinc Canada Division, has provided the latest information about the outcome of drilling in a 4737-sq. km area to Donner Metals.

Donner Metals is a fully vested partner with Xstrata Canada in the widespread Matagami base metal project situated at Abitibi in central Québec. This partnership covers six locations of prime stratigraphy which have yielded high-quality base metal from 1961.The results of the six drillings are as follows:

  • Isle Dieu South: Diamond drillhole OR-12-42 intersected mineralized Key Tuffite in the area which graded 1.76% zinc over 2.25 m. Underneath the Key Tuffite is an altered rhyolite sequence comprising well-developed sphalerite stringers which returned 4.96% zinc over 1 m. OR-12-42 also intersected two gold zones. The first returned 4.27 g/t gold and 5.00 g/t silver over 1 m. Mineralization was hosted within a quartz-chlorite-carbonate stockwork in extremely sericitized andesite. The second returned 4.15 g/t gold and 5.07 g/t silver over 3.05 m in a quartz-chlorite-carbonate stockwork hosted in floriated and chloritized basalt in contact with a tonalite intrusive.
  • DJV area: Drillholes DJV-12-90–92 intersected the Key Tuffite. DJV-12-90 and DJV-12-93 intersected pipe alteration that showed sulphite deposits and feltic intrusive, respectively. DJV-12-90 returned 1.82 g/t gold over 0.15 m hosted within an intermediate sericitized intrusive.
  • Galinee 14: Diamond drillhole GAL14-12-08 intersected the Key Tuffite followed by a thick sequence of chlorite talc alteration. This alteration locally contained chalcopyrite stringer mineralization. GAL14-12-09 intersected a weakly mineralized tuff unit disseminated by stringer sulphides hosted in intermediate intrusive/ volcanic rock. Diamond drillhole GAL14-07-05EXT intersected the Key Tuffite from 343.28 to 344.46 m. This interval was underlain and overlain by altered volcanic rocks that contained pipe alteration.
  • Daniel Belt: DAN-12-86 intersected graphite hosted within basalts.
  • Rivière Allard: RA-12-09 was drilled to pursue earlier evident Tuffite and to test a coincident electromagnetic and magnetic trend. It intersected a favourable andesite-rhyolite contact at 365 m.
  • PD1 area: An InfiniTEM anomaly test hole was also drilled to test stratigraphy. Diamond drillhole PD-12-45 intersected a stratigraphy of rhyolite followed by intermediate mafic and volcanic rocks. No major mineralization was encountered.
