Elemental Minerals, an advanced exploration and development firm, has reported that it has begun drilling of ED_01 exploration borehole at the Dougou target. Integration of recently purchased high-resolution oil borehole and oil seismic data enabled the discovery of this wide exploration target.
Location of the Dougou Target and ED_01 within the Sintoukola Potash Permit
High-grade Hangingwall Seam, containing more than 30% K2O, is the main target area found at the Dougou. Hole ED_01 specifically intended to validate mineralized sylvinite, was cut by historical borehole K-52.
The Dougou target is located on present planned infrastructure corridor that is about 15 km towards the southwestern part of Kola deposit and 21 km from the proposed Tchiboula port unit.
The company has discovered this Dougou target to be the second important potash target and this target is based on the historic drilling and an appraisal of the two dimensional seismic data of the oil industry.
Mineralized potash, along with significant sylvinite mineralisation, has been intersected in a number of drill holes located in the target. The Dougou target appears to be situated on a relative basement high and seems to be structurally well positioned for identifying further high-grade mineralized potash.
Two historic holes, including K-52 and K-38, show the occurrence of several sylvinite horizons. The region between these two holes provides a major option to mine and discover additional high-grade seams of potash. The area has not been examined.
The initial drill hole ED_01 will try to confirm the mineralized sylvinite encountered in historic hole K-52 and offer stratigraphic information to help in future reconnaissance plans. ED-01 is specifically collared 15 m from the collar of hole K-52. These historic boreholes do not have assay data.
