New Chinese Deals for Rio Tinto

Rio Tinto is all set to embark on a new Chinese joint venture and expand an existing one in place with Sinosteel. The Sinosteel deal involves extending the existing Channar iron ore joint venture in Australia. The expansion will help produce an extra 50 million tonnes of iron ore.

Vale SA Inaugurates Copper Project in Chile

Vale SA the Brazilian mining giant is now mining copper in Chile. It inaugurated the Tres Valles project on Thrusday, which will be Vale’s first copper project in the country. The Tres Valles project is expected to produce 18,500 metric tons of copper cathodes or large sheets of 99.99% pure copper.
