Benton Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:BEX) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that the prospecting and mechanical trenching program at its 100%-owned Iron Duke gold project has returned encouraging initial results. Grades of selective grab samples ranged from trace to 64.1grams per tonne (gpt) gold (Au) and composite channel samples returned 8.17gpt Au over 1.8 metres (m) and 6.68gpt over 2m. Five trenches were completed over a strike length of 260m and all uncovered anomalous gold values, providing evidence that the system is open in both directions. The gold values are associated with silicified altered volcanics and meta-sediments with abundant pyrite and arsenopyrite mineralization. Due to the onset of winter, the Company couldn't complete washing and detailed mapping which will be completed in the spring when weather permits.
Assays for the initial channel samples are listed below:
Stephen Stares, Company President and CEO commented, "We are pleased with these initial results and believe these gold values show the potential of this early stage gold project. This will provide Benton with the initial data to plan drill holes and advance the project accordingly."
