Campbell Stewart has been named the head of Metals and Mining for UBS for the Asia Pacific region for investment banking. Mr Stewart is currently the head of investment banking for UBS in Melbourne besides heading the resources team for Australia. His new appointment will let him continue working based in Australia keeping his old roles while taking on the new one.
After being with UBS for 23 years he is well equipped to take on the challenges that his new role will bring him. The position is a new one for UBS in Asia Pacific. He has been associated with the mining, oil & gas, mergers & acquisitions, and capital raising transactions for over 40 years. UBS spokesman Chris Cockerill confirmed the appointment.
He helped facilitate the buyout of OZ Minerals Ltd by the Chinese company Minmetals Non ferrous Metals Co. He was also involved with the financing of the takeover of Felix Resources Ltd by Chinese mining company Yanzhou Coal Mining.
Matthew Hanning, UBS’s head of investment banking for the Asia- Pacific region said in a memo that Australia was the largest mining resources geography in Asia Pacific and runs a deep and established sector team. He added that operating their team on an Asia Pacific basis allows them to deliver deep sector knowledge and deal experience to all of our clients around the region.
