Parlane Resource has begun the Phase I surface exploration at the Mercedes epithermal gold-silver project. This project is at the Sierra Madre gold-silver region in Mexico.
The company will test the potential of the La Lamosa ridge, which is the major mineralized region during the present drilling program, with the help of soil and rock sampling and mapping and further showings on the region before the commencement of the 2,000 m diamond drilling in late summer of 2011.
The location of the Mercedes property is around 200 km south-east of Hermosillo in Mexico. It has three nearby claims having 360 ha in total, which includes Ampliacion Mina del Oro, C.R and La Mina del Oro.
Parlane, with the objective of expanding the Mercedes property has commenced talks with the other property holders nearby the project.
This Mercedes project is situated in a historic mining district, which has a rich past of several operating mines. It covers 360 ha of land and is sited in the southern part of Sonora southeast of Hermosillo and 16.5 km of Yecora. Many exploration works are being conducted in this area including Gammon Gold's Ocampo project, Alamos Gold's Mulatos project and Dia Bras Exploration's Moris project.
