Brigus, a gold explorer and producer, operates the Black Fox Complex located in Ontario’s Timmins gold district.
The company has announced that it has returned exceptional gold assays at its exploration drilling conducted at the new 147 Gold Zone in the Black Fox Complex. The 147 Gold Zone GF11-206 drill hole returned 3.94 gpt over 24.20 m.
The Black Fox Complex is 100%-owned by Brigus. It covers approximately 18 km2 and the 147 Gold Zone is located in the southern part of the Black Fox Complex. The gold mineralization within the zone occurs mainly within the multiple carbonate and quartz healed brecciated zones that are within mafic volcanics’ bleached units. The exploration of 147 Zone is open in all directions and the GF11-206 drill hole is returning exceptional gold assays. The Zone currently extends 240 m below the surface in the vertical direction. The other significant holes in the 147 Zone - GF11-195 returned 1.72 gpt over 21.78 m, GF11-198 returned 6.31 gpt over 6.00 m, and GF11-220 returned 4.00 gpt over 13.00 m and 2.90 gpt over 11.00 m.
Norex Drilling managed the surface drilling process, while the exploration team at Brigus supervised the operations. Four drill rigs are being used. In-fill drilling of the Contact Main Zone is the fifth drill rig. This zone is located at a distance of around 400 m in the northern direction of the 147 Zone. The ISO 9001:2000 certified Polymet Labs in Ontario carried out the sample analyses.
