UnionTown Energy has commenced drilling a second well at its Teton River property. The company expects that the drilling operations at the Teton River #2A-10 well will take 3 to 4 days.
The company has planned to drill five wells during the phase I drilling program at the property and this well is the second well out of the five. It has obtained the drilling permits previously from the Montana Oil & Gas Commission for all the five wells in this phase I drilling campaign. The company may drill a sixth well as a water source in order to assist the completion of the five wells.
The target of the Teton River #2A-10 well is the Swift Sandstone structure. The company is expecting to drill the well vertically to a depth of around 2,000 ft.
The location of the Teton River property is in the northwest Montana and the area of the property is 11,000 A, which is famous but immature, shallow heavy oil province covering about 700,000 mi2. The drilling operation of the company at its initial well has encountered positive oil results during June 2011. There was heavy oil production formerly at the Teton River property by means of steam flooding.
The CEO and President of the company, has stated that UnionTown is expecting the completion of the phase I drilling and to additionally expand the reserve estimation models. It is also anticipating that the well at this property can produce oil in 60-90 days depending on the equipment availability and trades needed to bring the wells for production.
